It is true that Berg made it like there was the single monolithic evil "System" out there, and then there were the misfits, good and bad, or even noticeably evil, but these all were embraced as though they were our kindred souls, because we were misfits too.
And it is true that there were times he was given to bouts of discouragement because he never applied letters like "Dumps" on himself or had a tribe leader beating him over the head with it and asking him to just over it and get the "victory."
What Edward was pushing for or rather telling us was true about us but just that we didn't know it, was that the concept of Revolutionary Suicide was taught in the cult, and that it was part of a shared belief system with the People's Temple.
