I'm a young adult only just now learning about the Family. I've come into contact with the cult as a result of following the public health debate and the actions of Rep. Bart Stupak and his proposed amendment. In several articles he is cited to have been living in a revamped "church" on C street in DC which was supposedly avoiding realty taxes and has housed several other conservatives (dem/gop) who have engaged in promiscuous sex outside marriage (which sound like Family practice). In the articles I've read the "Church" is said to have been owned by The Family....my question is: Is this true? or is there some other "Family" which has evaded my research. And if the "Church" is owned by the COG does anybody know if or how they influence legislation. These men are all conservative Christians and The Family is a seemingly "progressive" Christian cult- if these men are in fact members how does this come to be?
