Alan - I noticed your discussion about the media and the twisting of events and putting a slant on things. What I think is ironic is that depending on which side you are talking to, the slant is either biased towards the liberal viewpoint or the conservative viewpoint. It's kind of amusing. From my vantage point, I do believe that from the beginning of the war on Iraq, there was so much negative criticism coming from the press it almost seemed that certain factions hoped the U.S. would fail miserably. I was shocked at some things professors and different people were saying. Anyway, I watched the news, all channels, during the Iraqi war. I noticed a striking difference from liberal Tom Brokav to conservative Fox news. During the taking of Bagdad when they were toppling statues of Hussein (even the media had a hard time ignoring that scene or they'd be accused of being like Bagdad Bob - remember him?) Brokav (sp?) was so dirgeful and pessimistic - even in his voice, whereas Fox news was in celebration mode. I couldn't believe the difference.

Anyway, all that to say, there is an author I'd like to invite you to read and offer your opinions on. You can find him at Nationalreview.com - Victor Davis Hanson - here is his latest article. See what you think. I think you'd like his writings.
