I don't know about recently. A lot of us left quite a few years ago. You can read personal stories on this website about how various exmembers joined. Go to the articles section and read stories by former members.
TF actively recruits members through a variety of ways. They may not admit it outright, but they still use female members to recruit through sex. I've heard young SGA men talk about how they go to bars to go Flirty Fishing.
Once they talk you into joining their organization, usually you have to completely leave everything behind, including friends and family. Of course, you have to bring all your wealth and contribute that to the group. Then you have to start studying their literature and become "strong" in the word or with their dogmas. They usually keep you isolated during this process so you don't have any "distractions" or can't be swayed by reverting back to ones critical thinking capabilities. They start with simple things and as they think you are becoming more programmed, they give you the "meatier" stuff - the outlandish doctrines such as masturbating to Jesus, etc.
