I received my copy of "The Endtime Family Children of God" by William Sims Bainbridge from Amazon.com yesterday.

I haven't been all the way through it, but I skimmed it last night.

My opinion: A bunch of intellectual claptrap.

It is difficult to take any book about the COG that was written in this century that doesn't have names like "Davidito" and "Merry Berg" in the index.

It appears to be based on questionnaires that Peter sent out with a letter from "King" Peter telling the 1,000+ members who recevied it to be "completely honest".

His research was conducted in select homes, including one near Washington DC that is described as rasing cash via carwashes. The leader of the home is not identified, but I wonder if the author knows that long before his book was published, the person I belive to be that leader was cast out of The Family for having the audacity to run a web page where former members could tell the truth about their experiences in the Family?

I realize I have to give the book a chance by actually reading it from cover to cover, but my first reaction to it after all I've seen and experienced as an "outsider": It pisses me off.
