Acheick, that is so heartfelt. I wish you would have a poetry section where poems like these could be posted until one wished to have them taken down. I am thinking that the people in the family who can relate, or the very person being talked about, may one day really hear it and make that break. That heartbreak has to be what parents felt when their kids joined the family (for parents that cared), to be suddenly cut off and then be presented the carefully orchestrated, pat family responses. Except to be separated at such young ages is so much harder on parent and child. That kind of separation caused some serious damage in relations within my family even tho we got out together when they were still young children. Everyone loses, but there is always hope to build a new thing and to go on with what you do have. I cannot express enough to any parents who have been separated and unable to reconnect sans family. The poetry does it.
