It's hard to shake some things

I also have to consciously think that some of my thoughts are from my long time in TF and the conditioning I received. One has to consciouly dispel the thoughts and realize just what they are and how damaging they are. It helps to recognize them for what they are.

I also looked down on my father because I viewed him as a systemite. I feel bad about it now. He was an honest, hard-working man who took care of his family and never committed any crimes. What gave me the right to look down on him? The arrogance perpetrated in TF is simply wrong. That is not God or Jesus, IMO.

The trick is, Matt, to stop looking at things as the Family would. For starters, you are not a backslider. You have to make a concerted effort to dispel that myth. It's hard, but I know you can do it because God has given us humans a deep well we can draw from and get that strength. It's there because we need it for our survival. Just keep on, you're doing fine. You're taking care of your family and that's the most important thing. Bless you.
