I liked Miguel's points and thought they were valid. It's not cut and dried if you're WS, CM, FM, as people's hearts are in different places. I recently met a CMer who, according to standards I previously knew as a disciple, would be considered FMer. It's like the verse, "God looketh at the hearts."

People are in the Family for different motives. Think of all the SG disciples who were born in the Family, know the talk, know the ropes, but who don't really believe it. For them it's not so much discipleship as it is a lifestyle. Or even jut a bad habit.

The Family has sometimes been monolithic, tightening up, shedding Associates, IRFers, TSers, etc. then relaxing again and creating new categories. The creation of concentric circles is need-driven, as even they realize that it is not to their advantage to try to keep all people "in".

Also, this contract, expand, contract, expand process, while it seems insane and pointless and repetitive, actually serves a purpose: to purge and weed the ranks.
