relationships

Posted by NOT Ann Landers on September 18, 2002 at 08:13:02

Lately, it seems everyone around me is having relationship problems. I'm talking serious relationship problems. The kind that are hard to recover from. I started thinking about that and how since the advent of the easy divorce laws, hardly anyone remains married for very long. Even in the F. with people who claim to be the most loving people on the face of the earth, there are not too many of them who remain with the person they originally married.

My question is, are some people characterized being like a wolf - marrying for life? Then some people fall more into the line of being like apes who have one male and his brood. I think some males are like that, maybe even some women. But I see it more with men. Then I see men who do not and even cannot stay with one woman, it's just not in their nature. Do other people see this? Anybody have any answers? And please, no F. people claiming to have heard from Ann Landers now that she's dead.

I heard one statement that seemed to ring true, that you marry because you want to spend your life with that person, not because of romance, since the romantic part will always fade within time and if you wanted nothing but romance you'd have to have a new love every two years.
