In the throes of addiction people can do the most horrific things. But to have even been attracted to the family, something was missing that couldn't be filled and that is why drugs and cults and gangs thrive, imo.
But there is LIFE after it all. And we deserve it. In the fam. we were so programmed to believe that we were nothing, shit, etc. Then got filled up with the REAL shit. My hope for all survivors is healing. In some senses, we have alot in common with people that have suffered the ravages of drug abuse. It takes a lot of courage to look back at what we were taught (unlike with drug abuse) was the "right" thing to do and realize we either did, or saw things done that are so painful to ourselves and others. But at heart, we are good people that do care. I hope for your healing and that you can keep talking about your experiences and feelings.
