The oldest 3rd generation on the average are still in their early teens. Home schooling à la Family usually means mediocre, only basic math and science.

I think it's clear that most will leave when they're old enough, and whether or not they'll be better prepared to live in the real world that the 2nd generation has been, will still probably depend on the individual. The other factor will be how his parents him up: the third generation is being brought up in smaller homes where the parents are much more involved in raising and teaching their own children, unlike many of the 2nd generation where the parents were often only with their children on 'Family Day'.

I've heard that 2nd generation parents don't have the same illusions we first generation parents had when we thought that most of our children were going to grow up and carry on in the Family and turn out be the "greatest force of evangelism the world has ever seen".
