After I left, my hubby had to go back to school to get a degree as we were on welfare and he could not find a good enough job to support us. I saw a change in him that was just incredible. He lit up like a christmas tree and was full of excitement.

I think it's true what you say about having been so stifled for so many years and our minds limited to only Berg induced vomit that to get to read and learn something else is like a breath of fresh air. I saw that in my hubby and I thought, hey, I've had enough of being barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen, so with the support of my hubby, I went to community college and loved it. I read everything I could and enjoyed being able to learn a craft, something I liked. In my case it was merely a legal secretary but I excelled in it and since I found something I could do on my own, it lifted my self esteem and was very encouraging. I also thoroughly enjoyed all my GE classes and for the first time understood government and history. What a difference from what Berg taught.

The world of books opened up another world that was like the dark corner of the universe before.
