They have two dogs and take care of them carefully. In fact, the owner tries to train them as search dogs in order to use them in his anti-drug shows at schools, to show how search dogs work.
We also had a couple of rabbits in a home in the late 80s. They were well fed, but they died from too much handling. Too many kids and not enough supervision. I would say that would be the problem, too many people moving around, coming and going and no one knowing what is going on and who is responsible for what.
