there's a German website of experiences of people running their diesel-car on pure vegetable-oil...

Critical is wintertime...different viscosity of veg.oil and wintertime-dieselfuel...people help themselves with preheating the veg.oil in tank or tubes.

I was filling both my older Opel as well as my Mitsubishi with veg.-oil mostly in the warmer times.
It worked fine... if you're in a traffic jam,
people will smell, what you have filled ; ) ...could be embarrassing

Really cheap it becomes here, when you get it in bigger amounts at a veg.oilmill, which I haven't done yet.
So it works still with many of the older diesel-cars, with the newer ones (high compression) I' am not so sure yet...
