Since when is more a friend of terrorists? you're probably referring to things he said in an open letter he wrote Bush on April 14th. Read it in context.

The U.S. made the mistake of dismissing the whole Iraqui army. Sent them home, and disgraced them. The fact that many of them are now fighting an army they see as occupiers of their country does not make them "terrorists". These guys aren't the same as the terrorist groups who are kidnapping and beheading people over there.
