Ignorance in all its forms, poor education, keeping people from reading newspapers and listening to radio and worst of all putting mental blocks in their minds to automatically reject all information they do her as "the voice of the devil". I remember all that so well how fear of the "outside" kept me in the cult. That together with ignorance of what options there were to survive outside of the cult.
