To the extent that I believe in the Incarnate One, I find truth in myself through my brothers & sisters (all those human beings I know who empower me), in watching living creatures (my cat & the birds she stalks) & in looking with amazement at creation--the sun, water & trees, volcanoes and moons of Saturn--because learning more about these things shows me the truth about my place in the universe.

I find truth in music that elevates my thoughts above a world that makes me sick. I find truth when I exercize and eat in a healthy manner, because my beast of burden, the body, holds me up when my spirit starts to fail.

I find truth in the simple pleasures of life. I no longer need visions of heaven or the future foretold. It is a tremendous blessing to share a good meal with a friend and lover. It is a great joy to work hard at some task--washing & ironing clothes, for example--and enjoy the fruit of my labor by having crisp, clean clothes to wear. Joy from doing weekend chores? Yeah, enjoying the fruit of my labor sure beats wearing stinky rags or going naked.
