Since the day I first found out about what The Family really believed, I thought it was wrong.
However, I spent many years thinking that it could be salvaged. Spending time meeting current members who seemed very sincere. People talking about how the mistakes of the past were behind them, and that the new Family was about helping people and being missionaries, etc.
It's easy to believe, because you want to believe that deep down, people want to do good.
In recent years, I've come to a point where I think that The Family comes from such a dark place, that even with the best efforts of good people who may believe with all their hearts that they (and The Family) are sincere, nothing good can really come of it, ever. It is a poisoned well. Poisoned with child abuse, rape, incest and torture.
In my opinion, if there are people still in The Family who really want to be missionaries, they should leave and join an organization that does legitimate missionary work that does not, and has never participated in these terrible things that I've mentioned.
