I agree that we should look into this matter carefully, since there may be valid reasons why the Zerbys had that much money. But what the SGs are doing looking through public domain records is perfectly legal &, I think, given the suspicious circumstances, a good idea. If the Zerbys and Dayos have nothing to hide they'll come out of this just fine.
Karen Zerby may have been supporting her poor old parents with $1,000 a month, no big deal, but I don't think they were that poor or needed any help given that they could pay $650,000 for property in 1983 & $295,000 for another property in 1986.
Just because no money trail has been discovered so far doesn't mean that there isn't one. Sometime these things take a little digging. I hope for their sake that the old Zerbys and Dayos come out clean but it's too early to say at this point.
