If you were in Japan a long while and learned a bit about the culture, there mat be opportunities to teach things like flower arraingement, tea ceremony, karate, if there are no english teaching opportunities. You can also check with Berlitz language schools wherever they are, as they are always looking for teachers. Another possibility depending on how enterprising you are is opening up a novelty shop and selling all kinds of Japanese
knick knacks. Of course you need to check the import laws etc, but the 100 yen shops in Japan are getting better quality stuff, and more variety. If you buy wholesale, and sell it for a profit in the states. a lot of Americans just love to clutter their shelves with cute little oriental knick knacks, figurines, pictures, fans, lanterns etc. The sky is the limit. Hope this helps. Via Con Dios
