In your case, I can see how people would be curious because you did announce publicly that you'd written a letter to Peter. So they want to know the results, what did he say back, and that's a natural enough request. I'm sure there's nothing surprising in your letter to Peter and definitely nothing surprising in Peter's reply back to you. But you did get people curious and they can wonder what you're "hiding" if you don't tell them, seeing as how you did previously talk about writing him.

Personally I don't think you're hiding anything, and as I say, if Peter wrote you back I'm betting that it's just same-old, same-old, probably copied from a form letter. But in the future I guess if you want to keep things discreet and don't want people asking "so what happened next?" just don't announce it.
