Getting banned by mistake?

Posted by Webmaster on September 23, 2006 at 14:31:23

From time to time, one of our regular posters posts something that triggers off an automated ban and a heavy-duty warning is issued. Please accept our apologies if that happens by mistake.

Spam is now getting more and more sophisticated. We set our filters high and use custom-designed algorithms for detecting it. We have to block spammers before they clutter up the boards, as they usually post several spams in a go. If they persist we actively go after them, and we have already succeeded in getting quite a few of them shut down and kicked off by their own ISPs. The automated ban and shutdown simply saves us the work of going that route. You wouldn't believe the number of thwarted hacker attempts and spam attempts we get per day!

However, we know it is pretty upsetting to get an undeserved warning message by mistake.

Please bear with us, and give us a bit of time. I'll be creating a safe list for our regular posters, so you can post freely, without getting banned by mistake. I will try to work on that this weekend.
