Anonymity, use and abuse of handles

As far as the board rules are concerned Zzzzz is entitled to use whatever handle he/she wants as long as he/she sticks to it in the same thread on the same topic; whether or not he/she is criticizing a book. We have no rules that in order to critcize a work by people who have revealed their names, you have to reveal yours too.

On the other hand, a few other people who have meant well, have been posting under several inventive handles in this same thread, like Um, PS, hehe, Well-duh, write a review, book, nUMBER 5, as did, etc. It not only makes it confusing as we don't know who (as in which anonymous floating head) we are talking to anymore after a certain point, and it sometimes creates the illusion of a groundswell of support for a position.

So to sum it up, use whatever handle you want, but stick to it for the same topic/thread. That way you don't get to have it both ways, try out multiple positions and argue with yourself either. ;-)
