In answer to that question, as a 2nd gen'r I think the answer is yes, they can and should be forgiven.
I think a reason it might be difficult though for some of us is that there are may 1st gen's that have a lot of explaining to do and they remain silent. Whether in or out of TF.
Of course it is probably impossible to contact everyone I have issues with and get an apology and I understand that, but there are definitly a few choice people from my past I would like to confront now as an adult.
With all that in mind, if I were given the opportunity, and were convinced of their sincerity, I think for my own benefit I would have to let it go and forgive. The 1st gen's were just as much victims of mind control as we were victims of abuse. I think they struggle to find thier place out of TF just as we do and if help can be given to get people on their way, 1st OR 2nd gen's, it should be done.
