It seems to me that you may be underestimating the radioactive nature of being in any way linked, even in the distant past, with a group as volatile as The Family. Employers are not generally in the business of trying to help people other than their investors. Very few people either have the will or the time to try and explore the many complex issues raised in the wake of High Control Groups.
After Watchman appeared on Larry King, trying his best to fight the continued abuses of the Family, how many employers do you realistically think would have hired him? If he'd been responsible for the care and providing for minor children at the time, I'm not sure it would even have been a responsible choice as a parent, knowing the financial and social difficulties that would result FOR THEM!
Anyway, I think I am beginning to repeat myself. Enough said.
