Very interesting find, LTE. Hack's salary is roughly on par with what nonprofit CEOs earn in my area of the US. It's not really that high for someone living in California.

What I wonder about are the accountability and transparency measures. Is the information Hack provided on the Form 990 verified by Charity Navigator? Notice that the "Audited Financial...available on website" box is marked with a red X, which I interpret to mean "Not Available to the Public." If that's the case, there's no way for the public to know whether Hack told the truth about whether Activated "does not compensate any board members," "does not provide loan(s) to or receive loan(s) from related parties," "audited financial prepared by independent accountant," and "no material diversion of assets."

Unless he submitted evidence (verification) of an independent financial audit with the Form 990 to the folks at Charity Navigator, they wouldn't know whether he's telling the truth or not, either.

I got a kick out of "Whistle Blower Policy" in place. TFI leadership certainly has a dark sense of humor.
