The good news is you don't have to follow any leader or any book or any religion or any dogma now. The harder part is working through the effects of the garbage that was instilled and finding your own interests, style, political, religious, humanist or agnostic/atheist approach to life that works for you.

is a site you may find helpful to you.
You are definitely not alone when it comes to surviving growing up in a cult or a rigidly controlled and abusive environment. The good news is that there are many surviving and thriving, many struggling through emotions that can be overwhelming at times, but also doing things like going to universities, trade schools, developing areas of interest to themselves that they didn't even know they had until exploring life outside that box. Some may be able to help you navigate through resources in your community that an help you with some of your pursuits. Some who can help you grieve your losses and celebrate your achievements. Maybe you are in a place where you're well on your way. Whatever the case, I hope the best for you.
