For years I bought all the COG/TFI sold, including the spirituality of their leaders, their good wishes for a better world, etc. One day I woke up and left.
I suspect a lot of people never left TF because they were either blind to those thing, unconcerned about them, or simply asleep.
It seems that you can see, so it is now your responsibility to walk the walk. You may never understand but you will be a better person. Sorry about your mom.
