Yes he was apparently, until 1975 (it says on the xfamily website). He was also the leader (or one of the leaders) of the COG's International Office where I joined the movement as a naive 16 year old in the spring of 1973.
However I have realised (after doing some research) that he is not Zen Gardener after all, although I would certainly be very interested to know more about Zen and what name or names he was known by in the group.
