It just cracked me up, CB. That ending totally took me by surprise. It's that delicious sort of dark humor that I sometimes love, especially on that topic.
Glad you mentioned people in your office that were Christian were laughing to at the irony of it all.
I can remember going to a 12 step group about five yrs after I got out of TF and there were people who made a cult out of the support group. If it weren't for the traditions to protect it from allowing anyone real control, it would have been much scarier.
It's sad that some things that can be helpful for people can trigger people also, after TF experience.
Some people anyway. I know it did me. There was one group of people that went around with Big Books all marked with pens and highlighters and references and they thought they had the corner on the true 12 steps. They would proselytize and their motto was 12 steps in 12 days, give or take a few.
If you didn't do it just that way then you weren't REALLY working the steps or you weren't REALLY going to stay sober.
Well, I outgrew the need for that sort of support and in it's time and place it helped (mainstream 12 step, not guru's within).
Just watched a good show on TV, it was that crime series "NUMBERS" and was about a polygamist cult..
It was good.
