I think I could answer you better if you told me what I said that you are reacting to and what you thought I said.
I re-read it and it's clear to me, but since your experience in the aftermath of the Family is different, it might not be clear to you?
You left and kept a faith. I left and checked out different faiths but couldn't buy any of them, The first progress was when I started realizing who I was, what I LIKED in the way of the clothes I wear, the music I like the interests I have, what I choose to be called, whom I choose to love etc- I found what is right for me. I was such a non-person I really didn't know.
Not only the Family but also my Family of Origin were my only frames of reference before leaving at the age of thirty, and both sytems were very abusive and controlling.
Both presented an abusive and controlling Jesus. That's the Jesus I like to see get hit by a bus.
