I thought Life of Brian was hillarious. As far as Jeebus goes, my kids tell me that stuff I wrote while in TF sounds like Ned Flanders on acid.
Even when I was devoutly religious in a conventional way, I never took offense at spoofs on Christianity. I didn't take offense at Scorsese's Last Temptation of Christ or any number of other movies that "re-interpret" Jesus or the Bible.
I am trying to better understand people who do take offense at this kind of thing. They seem to see it as an attack on something sacred. I don't see how you can attack the sacred, because it's pretty much beyond us. People can attack my idea of what is sacred, but then, they're only attacking an idea. I'm used to having my ideas criticized--i.e., picked apart for their weaknesses and limitations--and I don't see that as a personal attack.
