Don't know how I missed this one. LOL. It is something to laugh about because I'd rather do that than cry about being like those people that were parroting. Yeah, I can't go with the "Follow Me" and "Blind Faith" ideology. Looking at what I went through as a result of it and what others go through as a result of it makes it something I never want to experience again.
My domestic partner is a Christian who was Jewish by birth from the mother's side of the family and was taught Jewish tradition by her grandmother whom she lived with for some years.
She takes offense to things like this video. I don't know why, seeing as how in many "Christian's" lives we are condemned to hell because of our lifestyle in that we live together in a committed same sex relationship.
But before we got together she had lived a life trying to be what she thought Jesus wanted her to be. Her husband left her to raise her girls alone. We met later in life.
She had been a soccer player in a winning regional team in her youth at a high school level. And she is really good at it.
Of course, now she isn't in the same shape for kicking that ball around like before.
I didn't know what I wanted until I met someone after leaving the family. Oddly enough, I never had sex with a woman in the Family though it was something Berg advocated as long as you weren't exclusive with women. Just play to his fantasy.
I am at peace in my relationship though it has been rocky at times.
When a couple has a hard time and they are same sex, in a Christian community that is not reconciling, which is what most of Western churches are: not reconciling, then people encourage others to leave that life of sin behind.
When hetero, a couple will be encouraged to do everything to work things out.
I'm fortunate that we both have adult children who are fine with us being who we are today. Who needs any extra grief?
I am glad that I am an individual that can think for myself today. I can also be responsible today and don't have to blame the devil for everything that goes wrong in my life.
