In modern usage of the word, the term homophobe means somoeone who is prejudiced and bigoted towards homosexual people.
Berg's writings instilled in me a prejudice against homosexual people. This is one of the things I've needed recovery from since I left the Fam. And I've come a long way.
About fear, well I think things like fear, bigotry, hatred are closely linked. Lots of times the source of hatred is basically fear.
