Go figure--Barbie is built like a Bergian wet dream AND she has a personal life that goes way beyond mindless submission to her corporate masters, not unlike Mama the Mosquito Queen. Barbie is all woman, but her overall shape is like a phallus. Back when I was working with adolescent girls who'd been sexually abused as small children, you wouldn't believe what one of them told me. Er, that is, about how she and her sister played with their Mermaid Barbies in alone together the bathroom...
You're right. It would be very interesting to watch Family kids play with dolls who have adult sexual attributes like breasts or muscles. What about action figures? My boys used to play with Spiderman, Hulk, Batman, Chewbacca, etc. Do the boys get to play with action figures, or are they made to play with wimpy soft toys long after they're ready to move on to hard plastic and explore the meaning of manhood (around age 4-5)?
