It's obvious, that you didn't spend too much time in the family...or you would have read at least "The proof"...prophecy & fulfillment (messianic) lined up...a not too bad work of TF in the late seventies...I 've seen something similar recently by a messianic, fundamentalist (non TF !) Jew & obviously that knowledge existed already long before Berg came along...so you missed that...so it's obvious you have such a mixed up view of Christ (and the Bible)...In a way I suggest, that you get first busy reading something along that line, before your opinion of the Bible gets even lower than the low level you already attained.Pity!!
If you know anything about Romans 8 and 9 even 11 then you'll know how many generations of Christians battled with the question, how can you harmonise the thought/fact of sin...will of God with some supposed or no freedom of man to choose "his fate"....some conclude final reconcilation some others rather not.
For Paul we have at least no right to question the
"moral quality" of God...the clay is not questioning the potter...say...are you much more than clay???(I think you're bit of a materialist/positivist...so you shouldn't be scandalised by my question or am I wrong?)
And, pardon me, according to the Bible, atonement
is necessary for all men since the fall...whether we understand it or not is something different....by the way, bloodsacifice is not only an "ingredients" you find in the Christian/jewish religion, don't you know?...also,I can quote you the psalms, where original sin...whatever that particularly means...is suggested (Psalm 51)...whatever else Augustine might have had in mind....one thing I know about the early (church)fathers...they tried to view at scripture from all angles and the opposition was tough in those days...so only a view could be established, which seemed the most plausible & reasonable.Of course people can always try to give a better explanation...but many critics don't even care or bother. They just had some "revulsion" about some scripture & from then on it's "a closed" book for them.
