If I say that I have an American car it means it was made in America, meaning the USA. For many people America goes far beyond the borders of the USA and can say this this is an American papaya.
Maybe it is a little different but I think we are talking about the same thing by using Christian as an adjective and a noun. Just like we could talk about the republican ideas and say that Reagan was a republican. Republican is both a noun and an adjective.
The difference might be that the behavior of a Christian, while not totally enclosed in definitions does provide for some impediments in behavior that Berg and Maria and The Family International have most definitely disregarded all along. They have picked and chosen what to accept and what to reject as far as limits.
While some Christian groups or churches may do the same, they maintain their teachings within the limitations rather than expanding segments in directions that are truthfully pagan and non-Christian.
I am aware that there is a danger in creating this distinctions, that some Christian Church may be singled out as expanding the basic doctrine too much, but in the case of Berg and The Family International, the "too much" part is clear and abundant I don't see how it can be Christian anymore than the wiccan pagan rituals of my neighborhood coven.
