In order to merge the nations under a world government, psychological control of people of all nations is reguired. The anti-Christ's rule is like a big super cult that engulfs the entire world. Media(and education)control is absolutely necessary to provide those socialogical changes.

While it is quite true that the, 'Mark of the Beast' is not here (that happens after the 'false prophet sets up the image in the temple at mid-week) the technology and conditioning reguired to prepare the way is definately here. The conditioning goes way back. IE. Encouraging the public's acceptance of a number in place of one's name - SIN cards, credit cards, ID cards, etc.
The use of electronics to tag or monitor items has also become normal practice nowadays. These things by themselves of course are not evil, but nevertheless serve as conditioning to prepare the world to believe that- there is nothing strange about receiving a, 'mark' to participate in society.
How many remember the practice of getting a mark on your right hand at school (and other) dances in order to have proof of payment? Few people seem to have noticed the implications there. That's probably because most places wouldn't have dared use an actual 666 for the stamp. Can you imagine some parents freeking out? "Oh No! The AC's at the high school dance and he already has our kid's." Heh heh heh .....
