That's true about the older cults like the Mormons, etc. holding to the KJV. But you'll notice that they also add other writings as having, 'Divine' authority. Just like Mo did.
The KJV style language was already outdated in the days of the translaters, but was chozen by them because the ye and thees distinguish between singular and plural, making for a more accurate translation, comformable to the Greek usages. Their, 'modern' English had dropped that harmonious quality and so they rejected their own common English and chose the older style. Without all the those 'old fashioned' words (ye thee thou etc.)the translation would lose clarity.
The interpretive part, concerning man twisting the meaning of the words and passages, holds true regardless of what translation is being used.
It is surprizing however that the cults would allow a Bible that actually condemns their own activities. Perhaps they are confident that the, 'conditioning' will block out normal perception among the inductees (worked for Mo)and retained it so as to appear, more 'orthodox' to undiscerning outsiders. Or possibly, the Lord fixed it that way so that some who believed His word's over man's interpretations could escape the spiritual bondage to the cult. I'm sure many ex-Cogs left because things just didn't check out as being of God. Where did they get that knowledge from, if not from the Bible, or from others who thereby knew something was very wrong with Mo's Christianity? While the modern translations contain strange new doctrines (EG. "But, godliness with contentment is great gain." becomes, "But, godliness with properity is great gain.") still retain enough truth to expose most heresies, it would be most difficult or impossible to form or maintain a healthy fellowship where serious error (such as immediately above) is incorporated at the ground floor. Laodicean from the get go.
