Very interesting...wasn't the reading material
very screened, meaning, do they make sure - as I have only heard good things about the Canadian school system yet - that nothing "too weird" reaches the pupil's minds? They made it quite a standard in Germany, to talk about all kinds of sects & either in ethics-classes or in the two approved religion-classes ( CC & Lutheran), I think they work mainly with approved books ...besides what you can get from the libraries.
(Meanwhile Islam gets also taught quite widely)

I just meant,I didn't get, how you got ahold of the book?

My problem back then...although I wasn't as "advanced" as you...joining with 16...was stopping almost at anybodys whim on the street, be it beggar, leftist, anti this & that...I just could hardly say no...that's how eastern-philosophy/religion also entered my life, but
outside of the schoolgates...

I remember a dear girl I met with 19, taking Hindi language classes with her...she had been to India for half a year & I greatly admired her...but later she told me, the experienc(es) she had with TM (or was it Ananda Marga?) were very weird & something must have happened, but she didn't tell me back then...she was probably surprised, that I had joined the COG, whereas she had started studying ethnology.

I meant to say, abuse happened may be predominantly in TF, but weird things happened also to many travellers to India etc...

At some times - looking back at my life - I had wished a better course of it, but then it went
much much better than the life of many to most on earth...seing their misery in TV or life is sobering...If I wouldn't have joined TF, I might have gone to India anyway, but what then??
I hardly entertain those thoughts...

Frankly I find the ekklecticism with a good shot
of syncretism in India "stunning"...at times they act, as if they could get along with almost anybody (mixing their own religious/philosophical cocktail), then some extremists lift their ugly heads, you have some dead people in the consequence of it & it calms down for the next cycle to start.

So this oneness theory is a nice "coating" IMO...
(or should I praise them for trying?)
