We are against censorship -- as long as people are posting within our guidelines. And if they aren't, we do not modify their posts, but we delete.
We have a new posting system installed where newcomers' posts are verified (checked for spam and/or nuisance content) before they are published. Once newcomers are verified as legitimate board users, they are placed on a safe list and allowed to post freely and publish instantly. It's worked well so far, except sometimes regulars using certain ISPs or posting from new locations mistaken for being newcomers, and their posts get held up. No biggie in my opinion, and on our end, well worth the man-hours saved.
So with our new net, we catch newcomer posters like Jack. Most probably, Jack is either a) trying to screw with us or b) provoke discussion; least likely, he is genuine and asking a sincere question. Why else come to an ex-member site with our stated goals and agenda and post something pro-Family like this? It's no secret our site is monitored by The Family, and we do stop a certain amount of junk posts by them.
My question to you all is: how much of this should we allow? Our policy has been not to do The Family any favors. Are we doing just that, by allowing them to mess with us, using the open nature of our boards to slip in their pro-Family propaganda?
I'm all ears!
