I'd say the best way to tackle this or any such Word-problem is to see how the words in the respective problem-passage is used elsewhere in the scripture or even at such time, which the linguists could probably answer and then trying to put that puzzle together...I staunchly believe, that God is not the author of confusion, neither a liar, therefore there must be a "pretty picture" taking all the scripture/verses/passages together...if there's e.g. something inflicting/contradicting...one should look into the way of concluding...after all, if one overlooks the right logic, one can have also in other fields of science grave problems, be it in math, engineering etc.
