A question to ponder is the Church, I mean the Church universal. Is the Church a organization or an organism? If one is to think about it, it is both. The Church created by Christ is a spiritual living organism. At the same time, to fulfill the mandate of Christ to be His witnesses in our Jerusalems, our Judeas, our Samarias, and all the world there must be organization and business.(Acts 1:8) The message is the same as 2000 years ago, the methods have changed to reach a 21st century world and mentality.
I can talk about what I am familiar with. I am involved with Speed the Light. It is and outreach of the Assemblies of God Youth Department. Their purpose is to rasie funds to purcahse vehicles and office euipment for missions abroad and in the US. Thousands of dollars are raised to accomplish this.
I believe bringing people to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and exporting His love to people who don't know Him is much different than exporting Coca-Cola, or Burger King. Once again it takes business and an organization to do this.
As far as the American Church is concerned, what it has done for missions is awesome.
The Church has spent and given millions of dollars for diaster aid, fodd aid etc.
Another outreach can take $5000, dig a well then build a church. This has been done in predominately Muslim countries. This is not perverted Christianity, this is Christ's love in action. Once again this takes organization and a business plan for it to succeed.
