Yes, the Genesis myth depicts the instituting of the monogamous system (Genesis 2:22-24) originating in Babylon some 4-5,000 years ago and taken with the Hebrew Tribes when they left. Monogamy was a social revolution that enabled the structuring of great societies and their civilizations---such as in Sumer, then Egypt, India and China.
We lived in polygamous and in polygynous communes before that.
