Isn't a sampling of 1000 far too small for reliable data for the USA?

The USA has 301 million people scattered in 50 states. To get a reliable picture of whether or not Hollywood matches their sensibilities, you'd have to survey people from a variety of age groups, a variety of ethnic, religious, cultural and educational backgrounds, people from different income groups, from a variety of occupations and lifestyles, of different marital status, gender and sexual orientations, with and without children, take into account rural vs. surburban vs. city-dwellers, typical viewing choices, etc. Even selecting a proportionate ratio of the above would be a science in itself, not to mention creating the ideal polling conditions (anonymous vs. identifiable, presence of peer pressure, no expectations of "right" answers, agreed definitions for "Hollywood", etc). Surely it would require more than a mere 1000 people to reach such a sweeping conclusion? I question what their definition for "does not share their moral values" is. Is that when you don't agree 100% with Hollywood about everything? Because nobody does, and the surbey would be rigged for a fixed outcome in that case.
