- Bulla Ki Jaana Maen Kaun for me a crying out, outburst, statement, protest all in one...I almost would call it a religious protest song
With all the Bollywood productions (plus those Tamil ones of the south), you have of course a lot of superficiality...the "commercial crap", but even then they give at times an introspection/angle of how parts of the society tick nowadays...better still to go there, like you did...for me it's a long time now ago & if God wills, I might go in some years...next decade??
Sorry, that I dumped much of my info & links...better now, than...I thought...I copy & paste a lot of URLs into some Word-files to have them in time of interest...I guess you could enjoy it "Salami-wise" ; )
I think you saw the Movie Bombay, the way you described it, one of my favourites....usually very good rated on the boards I visit for consultation
(before betting at ebay etc.),...if you liked that one, you might look into "Roja" and "Dil se" all three of the director Mani Ratnam,if I recall right & all about the same aspect: Hindu/Muslim confrontations...of all the ones I saw about such conflicts I thought "Pinjar" so far to be the best, I was emotionally quite "crushed"/touched in the end...what I can't stand in movies are just studio-scenes & thank God, there are still enough directors, who show us plenty of the landscape & people....if you have time, I'd like to hear your impressions of your visit in India...really!
