A non-believer/non-religious person has more biblical sense, than those religious "giants" at TF...well, with some the seed/apple hasn't fallen very far from the stem....sad to say.
From guitarboy:
Chris76 - thank you for your most recent post. I agree with everything in it. However, I will note that you are being evasive and not answering all of the questions. But I commend you for acknowledging that you are not answering all of the questions and attempting to give a reason for it (you feel the answers are personal).
Allow me a friendly comment on the above. Your decision to not answer the questions "do you or your wife engage in sexual contact with people you are not married to?" and "If the answer...is "yes," do you believe Jesus Christ approves it?" seems disingenuous, in that, you claim that the answer to the first one is a personal matter and not one that you would comment on publicly. But...this is an anonymous forum. Any answer you give would still remain personal because nobody in this thread knows who you are in real life. This is a non sequitur that you have given us, that you decline to answer the first question above because you want to remain private about it.
Also, my experience in cross examination suggests (but cannot prove) that your post indicates you do engage in sexual relations with people you are not married to. That is the impression I have, from reading your posts, including your last one. That is your decision. I am not going to say I have never been tempted.
But as a non-religious person, I am interested in whether you believe Jesus Christ approves it when it is done by members of The Family International? Regardless of whether you yourself do it, though it is my impression that you do. (an impression is non final, and is less than an opinion; I will not allow myself to have an opinion on this since you have not answered it definitively and since I thus lack the facts, but I do have the impression noted).
But I do respect your posts and your ability to respond instead of ignore
guitarboy, Sorry about your post ratings, I think yours have been an interesting dialog and have only received thumbs up from me.
About the questions you've posed, I don't like to discuss my personal relations in public anonymous or otherwise, so I think I'll stick to my response on that one. But do I think that Jesus approves of it? Given the correct motivation, legal age of those involved, and provided all parties are in agreement and no one is hurt by it, then yes I do believe Jesus agrees. His creed was love, and if someone has a need for physical love it is within my beliefs to show them that love within boundaries. But it's not a casual thing and there are plenty of guidelines, far too many to enumerate here. Here's what David Berg believed on this: http://www.davidberg.org/mission/the-law-of-love
The main point I wanted to bring out in my comments on this article is that The Family International is not an abusive environment, it has been proven time and time again by the courts to be a safe and and wholesome environment for children. Our group's apologies for the mistakes of the past have been genuine and the rules are rigorously enforced without exception.
