May I beg to differ? Sorry, please don’t take it personal. I’m about to make somewhat of a sweeping, generalizing statement, which in most cases, of course, is lacking wisdom… :-)

Anyway, when watching this song, which in itself isn’t too bad, I couldn’t help but chuckling over this curious American ‘veneer-Christianity’. Somewhat of an enigma to me, I must admit. The country is rife with ‘Praise the Lord’ type rhetoric, raised arms and fervent devotion. God bless yous everywhere. Songs about ‘worshipping’ inside out - the works. Hallelujahs are not in short supply and everyone rejoices in the Lord…

What’s wrong with this picture, Pastor Don?

It’s funny, but I see the same fake elements of Christianity that I found in the Family also in US style Christianity. Thousands of people raising their arms in praise to the Lord, ‘worshipping’ inside out, pledging their lives and souls to Christ eternally, looking ever so religious and devoted – then going back to their compromised existences, stock broker jobs, supporting whole-heartedly the war in Iraq and the next possible one in Iran as well. Not to speak of the next one, only God knows where.

Spending above their means, driving cars too big for anyone, eating junk food, raising the American flag, etc… Their leaders being time and again exposed for sexual and financial deviancy, they go from fall to fall – all the while praising their Lord and passing the ammunition for yet another war.

I simply had my fill of it and can’t condone it as real Christianity. The ever so devoted audience with their fake devotion and hallow smiles reminded me of this kind of Christianity. Sorry!

Hope I didn’t go too far with this, but this is how I felt when watching this. Accept my apologies if I over-stepped onto 'hallowed ground'.
