You did start your post with "Why I need the body," which I really appreciate. You are sharing your reasons, your journey.

Apart from that however, this is exactly what I mean. I've heard these verses before, but see things differently. In context with everything else I read and understand about how things work, I read these same passages but get a different message for my life. But because of that, other Christians like to throw verses at me.

I have no trouble knowing that I am part of the "body" and don't need constant confirmation by others for this. It's not that I purposesly set myself aside because of any superiority/inferiority complex. I just have different needs. My faith is my faith, without the need for a Christian social factor. I would feel the same way if I was trapped on a desert island, without a Bible to read everyday or other Christians around to remind me what "Christian" is. I'm not saying everybody should be like me, I am just saying I am doing fine being me.

Your starting sentence makes all the difference, but I'd like address something that typically happens with "scripture tossing": I'd rather someone make their point and say what they're saying rather than parrot verses at me. This approach of quoting verses without committing, without voicing a direct opinion or the judgement they are really making about me, adds up to a vague accusatory censure. It's usually designed to rile up guilt that I am not living up to the scrpture the way the scripture tosser does.

Also, I really can't relate to the Bible being put in modern language. It sounds like someone is trying too hard to "teach" me by interpreting the Bible for me. So if you have to toss them at me, toss them in KJV :-)

I'm difficult, yeah, but I'm me, and I've got my faith.
