Here is the problem I am trying to address: "You are right in that statistics also show that US fundamentalists in particular are not that concerned about taking any action re. the ecology. But this is still generally true of Christians in Africa, India or the USA. It is due to an anthropocentric worldview--the world serves man."
A rival hypothesis to better explain the observation you mention is that the brand of christianity, including a type of active self-styled christianity prevalent in the United States, has been successfully exported and has been adopted by people around the world who are more inclined than others to answer questions re ecology, though negatively as the survey shows.
In other words, what the results show is the ideological penetration and not a generalized Christian view about ecology.
Without samnpling I would be confident to say that the majority of Catholics in the world would be ideologically concerned about the ecological problem if they were more educated. Those who are educated think they know but it is only the result of ideological indoctrination, that in many cases come through their "christian" churches.
